This year’s speakers:

Torbjörn Appelros, Senior Director, Head of Stamping, Global Manufacturing Engineering, Volvo Cars
Opening speech
We are honoured to once again have Torbjörn Appelros, Senior Director, Head of Stamping, Global Manufacturing Engineering, Volvo Cars,as the opening speaker for Techtank Conference. Volvo Cars is one of the co-organizers of the conference, and an active part of the Stamping and Forming Center of Excellence in Olofström, Sweden, powered by RISE in collaboration with Techtank.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing. Peter Groche, Institutsleiter/ Director of Institut Technische Universität Darmstadt
Keynote speaker!
Towards maximum gain from process data in sheet metal forming
In order to fully exploit the potential of growing data sets generated in advanced forming processes, a procedure for knowledge discovery from sensorial acquired process data needs to be established. Therefore, this keynote presents robust data driven techniques for gaining knowledge from process related data combining machine learning and feature based engineering considering variations of the manufacturing system.
Erik Ylipää, Deep Learning Researcher at the Intelligent Systems unit, RISE

Artificial Intelligence in industrial practice: opportunities and limitations in general
During the last couple of years, there have been a lot of inflated expectations about Artificial Intelligence (AI). This has largely been driven by the impressive technical achievements in the field of Machine Learning (ML) over the last decade which have been extrapolated to fantastic ideas of what could be achieved.

In this presentation we will take a look behind the hype, and discuss some of the practical issues in using machine learning and how to think about AI as software development projects.

Johannes Weingarten, Chief Technology Officer, evopro systems engineering AG
Quality control and optimisation with a smart metal part – how to add information to a blank and creating potentials for process control in the forming press
One of the key steps in a press shop is the forming of parts where robustness, functionality and shape is produced. Various influencing parameters make this process being a complex control algorithm whereas the knowledge of these parameters opens up possibilities for understanding and mastering this control loop.
This presentation will give insights in the ways of making parameters visible at the forming process and possibilities of using these tools.
Alf Andersson, Technical Expert, Volvo Car Corporation, Adj. Professor Chalmers
Michael Fergusson, CEO, Viospatia AB
In-line geometry verification – potential with implementation of new technology
Geometry verification is moving from the measurement rooms towards in-line solutions; new technology that can keep up with high speed production opens the possibility to move the verification process in-line. In-line verification can give immediate process feedback and process adjustments to compensate for geometry deviations of the product and minimize scrap and rework. Furthermore, it can create previously unobtainable data for industry4.0 applications.
Krister Fröjdh, Ph.D., VP R&D, Proximion
Daniel Wiklund, Ph.D., Unit Manager Component Manufacturing, RISE
New press deflection measuring method based using optical fiber Bragg grating (FBG) technology and substitutive press models for efficient die cambering
Advanced deflection measuring device to quantify the elastic deformations of presses have been developed. The strain is measured by an optical fiber with Fiber Bragg gratings (FBG). The measurements can be utilized for die virtual spotting and cambering and also health monitoring.
Marc Lambriks, Country Manager, AutoForm Engineering Netherlands & Sweden
From Smart Engineering to Smart Production
The fourth industrial revolution is aiming for sustainable, smart and efficient production but how do we get there? Smart production is a company-wide attitude that involves all departments, from early engineering to final production. During this presentation we will show – by the help of some examples – that smart engineering (and try-out) is essential to obtain final smart production.
Simó Masque Barri, Account Manager Manufacturing Business, ESI Group
Chandragupt Gorwade, Technical Sales Manager, ESI Group
ESI’s Hybrid Twin technology to support Industry 4.0 revolution for Smart Stamping Production lines
ESI Group will present the creation of an Augmented Virtual Prototype to predict in a wide range of press and process conditions in order to obtain high quality parts with no rejections, the creation of reduced models of the 3D parametric PAM STAMP solution, the development of a control signal fault models to improve the reliability and understand the system sensitivity to process fault combinations, the identification of critical measurement parameters, to define sensors strategy and refined controls. The faulted system simulation data will be used to train the appropriate ML algorithms used for anomaly detection and pattern recognition of physical sensor data.
